ettain group has an immediate opening for a 6 month contract to hire UI Designer in Stafford, VA. Our client is a government consulting firm seeking a designer to work on enterprise applications for DOD and non DOD clients. Cutting edge design skills and an online portfolio are required for consideration. Candidates with federal application design experience will be the only ones considered. This particular role requires a Secret Clearance.

 

This is a UI Design position that encompasses all aspects of creating the user interface of an application: wireframing / prototyping, overlaying graphics, and implementing those designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You will take complete ownership over your designs from the beginning: talking to the end client, giving them multiple options for designs, and keeping them updated about progress as well as setting expectations for current design standards and why UI is important.

 

Responsibilities: 
• Work with customers, business analysts, technical team lead and staff, program manager, and other management to support new software development project
• Participate in Requirements Analysis sessions to ensure thorough understanding of user interaction requirements
• Work with requirements specifications and end customers to create wireframe storyboards to accomplish customer objectives
• Create advanced user interface specifications, drawing on deep expertise with advanced user interfaces, user experiences, metaphors, color and suitable information architectures
• Review/test developed UIs for adherence to specified UI/UX designs
• Select and/or develop technology-related photographs, drawings, diagrams, charts, and other artwork to illustrate materials

Requirements:
•Deep knowledge and experience with advanced web-based user interface specifications, metaphors, color and information architectures
• Understanding of Human Factors and experience in applying user-centered design methods
• Strong experience in developing storyboards, wireframes, and similar user interface definition and illustration techniques
• Working experience of various interaction and prototyping design tools such as Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver
• Experience and involvement with today’s graphic design concepts and paradigms
• Ability to lead the development of detailed storyboards based on requirements, use cases, and working with customers
• Experience in working in a software development team in a structured change control process
• Experience with Section 508 accessibility and alternatives to achieve 508 standards
• Experience/familiarity with CSS is desirable
• Excellent customer and team-interaction skills
• 3+ years in development of Federal IT software systems/solutions a plus

• BS or MS in related field
