ettain group has 5 an immediate contract (6 months) openings for Java Web Services Engineers to develop customer facing, Java-based systems.  The systems include User Interfaces, APIs, and backend high-volume transaction processing systems  The engineers should be self-reliant, comfortable with learning new skills, finding solutions to challenging problems, and capable of creating or finding the tools necessary to achieve solutions.

Responsibilities:

Quickly learn, understand and enhance the current customer portal and related API architecture.

Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.

Design and develop Java-based features, enhancements, and fixes using Object-Oriented Design techniques.

Automation of Unit and Integration tests to support a Continuous Integration environment.

Continuous improvement and optimization of current code base

Qualifications:

BS or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).

A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.

Extensive programming experience in Java/J2EE (Java 5) with at least 5 years of real world experience.  Strong OO skills, including knowledge of Design Patterns, are essential

Working experience with java/web application development such as Hibernate, Spring, Struts, and Struts 2

Working experience with RDBMS such as Oracle Database, and SQL

Experience with Formal, automated Unit and Integration Testing and Continuous Integration

Experience developing applications that interact with SQL Databases using hibernate

Experience with MVC Frameworks.

Working experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, XML, JSP, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery or Prototype.

Working experience with J2EE Application Server such as JBoss and Apache Tomcat.

Working experience with Agile application development methodology.hi

Working experience with IDE such as Eclipse or NetBeans

Working experience with version control systems such as Subversion.

Experience with Unix/Linux/Windows Servers.

Basic understanding of DNS.

SmartClient experience is a plus.
