ettain group has an opening for a SharePoint Designer for the intranet upgrade for a major government agency.  Work for a small government contracting firm as part of their expanding their SharePoint practice. Predominantly the work will be located at the client site in Washington, DC with travel to Fairfax, VA as needed. This will be a 6 month contract to hire opportunity.

User Interface and SharePoint–related tasks

Experience with customizing user interface for branding of SharePoint sites

Editing CSS or inline styles of SharePoint sites

Creation of SharePoint Site Templates and Site Definitions

Creation of wireframes or design mockups

Customizing SharePoint page layouts and master pages

Working with SharePoint on application projects for interface design

Integrating SharePoint with internal and external applications

Assisting with content migration

Presenting designs and explaining rationale for design choices

Validating and implementing Section 508 standards

Creation of Web interfaces for Internet Explorer 6.x to 8 and Firefox

Explain and lead best practices in system interface design

Knowledge, Technical Skills and Ability

Strong user interface analysis, design, and implementation skills in SharePoint.  Should also have proven track record developing web applications for Internet and Intranet networks/uses.

Experience with SharePoint Designer 2007 (2+ years) and 2010 (desired)

Understand SharePoint site design and branding from CSS to HTML for layouts and rendering

Understand rendering aspects and nuances of Internet Explorer 6.x and up and other browsers with SharePoint 2007 and 2010

Experience with creation and deployment of SharePoint Site Templates, List Definitions, and Site Definitions

Experience with the design and installation of SharePoint in an enterprise environment

Experience with integrating applications into SharePoint

Design and develop custom graphics, icon sets, and web site templates using Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007/2010, etc.

Flash and/or Silverlight experience

Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS

Understanding of XSLT

Closely communicate with clients at the design stage in an application or web site’s lifecycle to identify client requirements, client needs, and anticipated usage.

Knowledgeable of Section 508 and best practices and standards from usability.gov
